WELCOME TO CARDCRIBS

CardCribs are abbreviated instructions for Scottish Country Dances. They have been available since 1992, being printed on individual 3" x 4" cards (hence their name) and over 1,000,000 cards have been sold to more than 4000 different people. Cardcribs also form the basis of the crib booklets sold by the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society at their Annual Summer School each year at St Andrews.

Cardcribs are now available here, for free. You can download as many as you like, in any order, as often as you like. Having downloaded them (in Microsoft Word|) you can format them in any way you wish. If you are preparing a cribsheet to be supplied to other dancers we advise that you precede the cribs with our 'Abbreviations' note, which describes how the phrasing of the dance is indicated by the punctuation of the crib text.

Experience has shown that presenting the cribs in a two column format makes it easier to handle the cribsheet in the ballroom. We would like it if you included the CardCrib logo on your printing. Thus if there are any errors in the cribs your dancers will know whom to blame!

New dances will be added to the database as they start appearing at functions across the country, or alternatively, please e-mail ORIGINAL instructions (preferably scanned rather than retyped to minimise errors) to me.

Note: we try to seek the devisors permission for all dances that are turned in to CardCribs so if you are able to obtain that on our behalf before submitting a dance for inclusion that will make the process quicker.
